Špik Climb

1-Day Tour, start from Krnica Hut, pick-up in Kranjska Gora

Surely the wildest and most secluded part of the Triglav National Park, the Martuljek Mountain Group is mostly famous for its pointy peak Špik. If the mountain shows a wild and vertical side to the north, the southern face is much more friendly. Although the trail is long, a good part is not too demanding and only the last third requires some climbing. Those who do climb Špik are greatly rewarded with a stunning panorama and that specific feeling of utter satisfaction that only the wildest mountains of the Julian Alps can give you.

Guided by an experienced mountain guide.

Itinerary

With a parking lot only 20 minutes away from the Krnica Hut, this is definitely the preferable route to choose for a serious yet not too demanding route to Špik. The first hour and a half is more or less light hiking, which then gradually gains in steepness and precipitation. The trail is nicely secured though, making climbing pleasant, and offering nice views while you're at it. The ascent usually takes 5 hours, while the descent about 3 hours.
