Rjavina, “the Chainsaw Ridge”
1-Day Tour, Kot Valley to Kot Valley
Tackle a spectacular mountain chain famous for its spiky chainsaw-like ridgeline formed by prominent peaks of the Julian Alps – Macesnovec, Dimniki, Luknja Peč and Rjavina. Best visible and admired from the Dovje Village, it’s a serious and bold tour for the most demanding and picky mountain ‘gourmets’. Enjoy climbing an incredibly scenic ridge connecting three independent peaks and with the finish line at the top of a striking mountain called Rjavina, Triglav’s neighbor. For the chosen ones!

Itinerary
Upon meeting in the Kot Alpine Valley and checking the hiking and climbing gear, we head straight towards the beautiful mountains of the Julian Alps. After about three and a half hours we reach the first peak with spectacular views called Macesnovec, 1,926 m, which got its name after the abundance of larch trees decorating its long slopes. From there we descend down a bit to 1,773 m to a saddle between Macesnovec and the next peak in line, Dimniki, 2,104 m. There we strap on the climbing harness and helmet and enter the climbing section. We enjoy climbing across the long ridgeline and enjoying incredible views of the Julian Alps and other mountains towering above the Kot Valley. First we make our way to Mt. Dimniki, after that to Mt. Luknja Peč, and after about six hours en route we finally reach the top of Rjavina, 2,532 m, Triglav's close neighbor. At the top of Rjavina we take a short break to absorb the beauty surrounding us and then return back down to the Kot Valley.
