A week of heavy snow fall colored the mountains in white. They looked stunning, promising, even magical in a way. So we set off early in the morning for another ski-tour adventure to one of the most beautiful parts of the Western Julian Alps, the valley of Mrzle vode or as our Italian counterparts call it, Valle di Riofreddo.
The valley is 8 km long and it leads to a range of 2 K mountains with the highest peak being 2,507 m (8,225 ft). Our goal for the day was to ski down under Mt. Trbiška Krniška špica, well its snow-covered scree slope. As it turned out, we hit the jackpot. Untouched virgin powder snow, the holy grail for skiing, and the cosmic floating feeling in our feet.
